Finding Solutions To Your Bathing Difficulties

A brief description of the bathing advice and information sessions.

What are bathing advice and information sessions?

The sessions are for anyone 60 or over in East Sussex having specific difficulties with getting in and out of the bath. The sessions provide an information and advice service only. Solutions will be discussed to resolve your bathing difficulties. No equipment is provided directly through this service.

What happens when you contact us?

  • On initial contact, brief personal details are taken.
  • Venues, dates and times can be discussed.
  • An appointment will be made.

What does a bathing advice and information session involve?

At your appointment you will see an Occupational Therapist. You will be asked about your difficulties and your needs when bathing. You will then be advised as to possible solutions.

Demonstration and trial of equipment will usually occur where appropriate. Details of suitable bathing products will be given plus likely costs and retail outlets for purchase or hire.

It would be helpful if you could bring some information about your bathroom and bath e.g. measurements, grab rails, whether you have a shower attachment.

Any advice and information provided is free, unbiased and confidential.

Referral to other services

If you are eligible for help from Adult Social Care Services, you will be advised about this process. Information regarding other organisations or services that could assist you with equipment purchase can also be given e.g. Welfare Rights Service (ESDA);  British Red Cross; SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen's Families Association).
