ESDA Platinum Jubilee ‘Cheque for 70' Appeal
On Friday 16th May East Sussex Disability Association (ESDA) is launching its ‘Cheque for 70' appeal with ESDA's President, Lady Lloyd of Berwick presenting a ‘Cheque for 70' donation to East Sussex Disability Association.
As a charity we rely on donations and the discretion and generosity of the public to enable us to continue to help disabled people lead independent lives and to continue to provide our services free of charge.
This year an aspect of our sustainable funding initiative invites family, friends, colleagues, organisations and the professionals we work with to make a donation to ESDA during this appeal. As it is our Platinum Jubilee celebrating 70 years working for disabled people it seems appropriate that it should be a ‘Cheque for 70' appeal.
ESDA helps thousands of people in East Sussex every year with free, confidential and impartial advice on a wide range of issues that affect their daily lives. This helps benefit not only the people concerned but also the wider community. We are increasingly busy with referrals from all sectors of the community and rely on the commitment and support of a small team of paid staff and over 250 volunteers who generously give of their time, skills and experience.
ESDA is not a well-known national charity, or a high profile local cause however, there are good reasons for making a donation to a local charity like ESDA.
- A small amount of money makes a large difference
- It is invested back locally in local communities
- It helps to ensure that disabled people benefit in our community
- It enables disabled people to access high quality information and advice at no charge
- It enables disabled people to have a professional and impartial assessment with a senior registered occupational therapist on all aspects of daily living at our centre at no charge
- It enables disabled people to ensure that they are in receipt of their full benefit entitlement at no charge
Additionally:
- ESDA provides a Countywide network of services
- ESDA supports disabled people to lead independent lives
- ESDA helps to ensure that families, friends, carer's and the professionals that work with disabled people have access to professional information, advice, guidance and resources
- ESDA ensures future generations benefit from the work we do today *
* As part of our Platinum Jubilee we are going to publish the History of ESDA as a record of work done and an inspiration for the work still to be done. We now realise and can demonstrate that the work we did yesterday and over the last seventy years was of benefit beyond our imaginations.
