Welcome to the Daily Living Centre (DLC) at East Sussex Disability Association

What does the DLC do?

We offer free, impartial advice and information about items that can help you to keep your independence. We are unique because we offer you the chance to view and try products without any obligation to buy. We do not sell anything but provide information on where you can get items and other services that may be of use to you.

What equipment and products can I see and try?

Among the equipment on display for demonstration by occupational therapy staff are:

  • washer dryer toilets
  • level access shower
  • walkers and walking aids
  • scooters
  • fireside armchairs and riser recliner armchairs
  • beds- adjustable and also a standard bed with items to assist moving on and off the bed
  • personal care and dressing items
  • bathroom equipment including bathboards, electric bathseats and inflatable bathlifts
  • stairlifts and a through floor lift
  • telecare display with live fall monitor from wellbeing
  • kitchen products –cooking and meal preparation aids and aids for eating and drinking

Appointments with our Occupational Therapy staff to discuss your situation in greater depth, please note we only see people via appointment bookings except for monthly drop in sessions (see below).

Drop-in mornings are held on the first Thursday each month between 9.30am and 12.30pm, where you may view products on display and our accessible bathroom and kitchen.

Other services provided by the DLC:

Tours for induction purposes and for local organisations. These can be arranged by appointment.

Kitchen workshops are regularly held and offer the chance to try different kitchen, eating and drinking tools and learn more about caring for joints and conserving energy in informal, friendly surroundings. Please contact the DLC for more information.
