Government to cut disability benefits? Have your say
Many of you will have heard in the news of the threat to Attendance Allowance (and possibly Disability Living Allowance) that is contained in the Government's Green Paper ‘Shaping the future of care together'. The proposal is that Attendance Allowance should be scrapped to help local authorities pay for care for older people.
The Green Paper contains many more proposals too.
It is vital that you have your say. The Government need to hear what you have to say about this. You need to make sure that your views are heard and not leave it up to other people who may not say what you would have said; they may have no experience of receiving care services or have very different views to you. It is vital that the Green Paper actually reflects what older people and disabled people actually think.
Lots of organisations that support older and disabled people will be campaigning about this issue. ESDA will also be contributing to the debate. We want to make sure we include your views so please send us copies of your comments to. And if you can send them to your MP - make sure they know how you feel about this important issue.
