Disability Information Service

Some of the many and varied questions that are asked of our Information Officer:

  • I live in Peacehaven and want to apply for a Blue Badge. How do I go about it?
  • My aunt, who uses a wheelchair, is coming down for a holiday. Do you know of any accessible hotels or guesthouses in the Eastbourne area?
  • I need a special chair at work.  Are there any sources of funding that will help?
  • Where can I get a Radar key?

A client with an advisorESDA, the East Sussex Disability Association provides a free and confidential Information Service covering many aspects of disability. A qualified and experienced member of staff can provide the answers to all the above questions and more.

This service is available to all disabled people, their families, friends, carers, volunteers and professionals working with them in East Sussex (not Brighton & Hove).

Information given over the telephone can be backed up with leaflets and other literature if requested. We will make every effort to supply information in a variety of formats as requested including standard print, large print, audio-tape and via Type talk.

Our extensive information database means that we can give up-to-date local and national information on many topics including:

  • Legislation & Rights
  • Campaigning
  • Employment & Training
  • Volunteering opportunities
  • Accessible holidays
  • Short-term breaks
  • Days out
  • Sport/Leisure
  • Accessible transport
  • Self-help & support groups
  • ESDA local groups

We may refer you to other ESDA services, or other organisations where appropriate.
