Local Groups

ESDA's Local link with Disabled People in East Sussex. East Sussex Disability Association has local Branches across the whole of the county.

These Branches focus on improving local services and providing support for disabled people within their own communities.

The local Branches provide:

  • A link to ESDA core service.
  • A sign post service and information source for accessing other useful services.
  • Home visits, advocacy, support and form-filling assistance for individual disabled people.
  • Trips and outings on accessible transport.
  • Peer support and various social activities.
  • Some groups offer limited financial assistance to local disabled people for the purchase of specific equipment, fuel costs and holidays.
  • Some of the disability groups, particularly those of disabled people of working age, are also involved with campaigning to improve choice and opportunities for disabled people in all aspects of living in their area and across East Sussex. They work with other voluntary organisations and statutory bodies such as Social Services, Health, County and Local Councils.
